Single Facer Pressure Roll Gap Control

Challenge
The existing machine had motorised gaps but without effective automation or precision. The challenge was to provide a system fully integrated into the existing PLC/HMI controls to improve the accuracy, reliability and provide a G ap/Speed automatic function in a HOT, STEAMY and WET environment. Then make it retro-fit to other types of corrugated single facers.
RESULT
Improves control of single face bonding and quality by providing accurate gap control which can automatically adjust for a range of speeds. Reduces Cassette change time and enables better "Centre-Lining" for rapid quality and grade changes. Provides precise motorised control of Single Facer Pressure Roll & Glue Applicator Roll Gaps. Automatically adjusts gaps for Cassette change and to pre-loaded Gap/Speed curves. Displays the gap to 0.01mm on local HMI and has manual gap open/closed operator button.
Value
Production time is gained from the faster Cassette changes. Down-Time reduced due to the automation of the gap controls and waste is reduced.
